So, in this post you will get to know the answers of all such questions.

Who Is The Owner Of YouTube?

Google is the owner of YouTube, the biggest video sharing platform. YouTube is like a daughter company or say subsidiary company of Google, but Google is not the creator of YouTube. The creators of YouTube are the three employees of Paypal, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim.

These three employees of Paypal created YouTube in 2005, which was then bought by Google LLC in 2006 for $1.65 Billion.
So, Google is the owner of YouTube but not its creator.

In 2005, YouTube was active in USA only, but as time passed, YouTube spreaded all over the world. At present time, YouTube headquarters are situated at San Bruno, California.

Talking of its revenue, YouTube made a revenue of 15 Billion Dollars in 2019 and ranked 2nd in Alexa Traffic Rank in 2020.

What Was The Story Behind Creation Of YouTube ?

As all big startups have a story behind them, similarly creation of YouTube has a story behind it. Before 2005, no platform similar to YouTube was available on the internet.

One day, three employees of Paypal, named Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim went to a marriage and there they recorded a video and they wanted to share this video will other people but due to unavailability of any video sharing platform, they were unable to do so.

Then they got a idea of creating a platform where all people can share their videos with other people across the world. This idea was behind the creation of YouTube.com

How YouTube Was Started ?

YouTube was started as a startup with $11.5 Million investment by Sequoia Capital and $8 Million investment by Artis Capital Management. With such investments, the first video on YouTube was uploaded on 23 April, 2005.

After this launch, YouTube started getting more than 8 million views per day and gradually by 2006, YouTube was getting more than 100 million views per day with more than 65,000 videos uploaded per day.

When YouTube growth was at its peak, Google decided to buy YouTube on 9 October, 2006 for $1.65 Billion. This deal was finalized on 13 November, 2006 and Google then became the new owner of YouTube.

Presently, Susan Wojcicki is the CEO of YouTube, who has taken YouTube to great heights.

If we talk about the earning of YouTube, then all the income of YouTube goes to Google but some fraction of this income goes to the creators of YouTube.
